Sebastian County Parks Restricted Access to Playground Equipment

Following the recommendations from the CDC and Governor Hutchinson, to slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and practice social distancing, access has been restricted to all Sebastian County “playground equipment.” This includes Ben Geren Park, Bob Boyer Park, East Sebastian County Park and Buckner Park. Signs will be posted at all affected locations. Park visitors are asked to adhere to all closure notices and current social distancing recommendations. Park open spaces remain available to the public to get outside and exercise, the focus is closing access to hard surface playground equipment.

Sebastian County’s nearly 30 miles of paved and multi-use trails and additional hiking trails remain open, with strict social distancing. If you choose to go for a walk, or exercise outside, please remain a distance of six feet from people who are not a part of your household.

Ben Geren Golf Course and Gator Golf remain open, with strict social distancing. The current golf cart policy has been modified to allow golfers to ride as a single in the golf cart. Golf operations will continue to rent out carts to those who need them in order to play golf. All carts are being sanitized between users. The golf clubhouse and Gator Golf frequently touched areas are being sanitized several times daily. Bunker rakes have been removed. Foam inserts have been placed in the cups for easy golf ball removal, so golfers do not have to touch the flagstick and ball washers are being sanitized. Gator Golf putters are being sanitized after each use. Golfers are instructed to limit their groups to ten (10) or less while on or off the golf course.

We ask that golfers practice good hygiene by carrying hand sanitizer to appropriately sanitize their hands. Although we continue to sanitize and make every effort to provide a healthy environment, please make responsible decisions based on your personal risk profile on whether to expose yourself to others on the golf course or in other areas of the parks.

All public and private gatherings of more than 10 people are banned per CDC recommendations and the directive from the Governor’s office. If you see large groups of people gathering in parks, please contact the Department of Parks 479-646-2444 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
