Miss University of Arkansas Outstanding Teen, Kennedy Holland, was in attendance at the January 6, 2020 Greenwood City Council meeting in order to present the city’s parks department a donation.
Holland has been raising funds to assist the department in purchasing a wheelchair accessible swing.
Holland, a resident of the City of Greenwood, presented a $3,788 check to Mayor Doug Kinslow and Director of the Parks Department, Tammy Briley.
“It is part of my social impact… I have compassion for everyone that I meet, and especially the people who are disabled and who need to be included in everything,” shared Holland. “As a child you grow up, and you have friends and you go to the park. You swing on the swings. But, when you’re in a wheelchair you can’t necessarily swing with everyone else. In Greenwood we don’t have a wheelchair accessible swing.”
Holland hosted a fundraiser at CV’s in Greenwood, and received matching funding from the Modern Women of America Company.
