A prescribed fire, or “good fire” is a strategically planned and carefully managed fire application used to accomplish specific conservation/land management objectives for healthy forests and grasslands. Hazardous fuel reduction, wildlife habitat improvement, planting and regeneration, vegetation control, and ecosystem/ecological restoration are beneficial outcomes.
Safety is always the first priority of a prescribed burn. Officials from various conservation and land management agencies and private landowners and companies conduct the carefully planned operation.
If you’re planning a prescribed burn, please see these helpful tips and report your plans to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture Forestry Division here. For more about the Arkansas Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry, visit here.
